MONDAYS 7:00 - 8:30 PM / FEB. 23RD TO APR. 27TH Beginner Level (open to all) Duration: 10 weeks – 1 class/week – 90 minutes per class Total Instruction Time: 15 hours No experience necessary Capacity: 5 Students Description: This introductory course is designed for anyone looking to learn how to DJ. Taught using both vinyl and Serato DJ Pro software, the program provides a solid foundation in core DJ skills that are sustainable. Students will gain confidence in beatmatching, EQ, and manual control while developing the listening skills essential to DJing. Our philosophy is simple; start with the fundamental skills on vinyl, so that when you transition to digital, you're rock-solid and able to use the technology to its fullest. This ensures sustainable growth. This is learning "the right way". This will set you apart. Key Skills: • Equipment fundamentals • Record handling and cueing • Basic EQ techniques • Introductory scratching • Beatmatching by ear • Digital techniques using Serato DJ Pro • Set preparation and flow Required Materials: • A laptop capable of running the latest version of Serato DJ Pro (software is free for in-class use). Certification / Culminating Project: Students will perform a short (aproximately 10 minute) in-class skills assessment in order to receive course certification required to advance to Intermediate 1. Students will also perform a short live set at the end-of-term showcase in a public setting.
